So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that each and every "service" shoved down our throats by an over-reaching government turns into disaster, how could any informed American trust our government to run or even set policies for America's health care system - - 17% of our economy?
Maybe each of us has a personal responsibility to let others in on this brilliant record before 2010, and then help remove from office those who are voting to destroy capitalism and destroy our grandchildren's future.

I would like to add to that fail rate. I am currently taking a graduate seminar on large scale environmental restoration. The first restoration project we looked at was the Everglades. So, in 1947 the Army Corp of Engineers decides to drain portions of the Everglades to create agricultural land. Now we have sugarcane being grown in a location it was never meant to grow. Thanks to fertilizers and pest control, we now have have large quanties of phosperous in the Everglades that are destroying the ecosystem. Now before everyone starts screaming "tree hugger", understand that there are some benefits of this ecosystem that are useful to humans, such as a natural form of waste treatment. Now the federal government as well as the state of Florida are pumping billions of taxpayers dollars into restoring this ecosystem. Now here is the other problem, this is an unattainable goal. The money being thrown away for this project is never ending. Thus, goverenment uses taxpayers dollars to screw something up, government uses more taxpayers dollars to try and fix its screw up. Therefore, when it comes to environmental issues such endangered species and ecosystem resoration, who should pay for it? Is this a case where elimanating income tax and imposing a consumption tax would be benifical? I welcome any thoughts or comments.

But, what are we the people supposed to do when 60 percent of the other Americans walk around with their hands out talking about how the Government owes them something for nothing? How are we supposed to make a difference when others are so happily ignorant that they refuse to care about the future of their own children's welbeing in the next 20 or so years. At times I feel like the world of the intellegent is being over run by those that do not care to be part of the solution to every American's problem. They have their food stamps, their cash for clunkers rebate and now they will have their free health care at our expense, till it is run into the ground like every other Government program. But, as long as we breath they can still find a new way for us to pay for their lack of leadership and the on going failure to stand for the oath that they took as part of our Government.

ReplyDeleteI am learning a lot about MBSs, CMOs, CDOs, and CDSs and I just don't understand how AIG being a self interested company did not see that these Toxic assets were a horrible idea!!! I mean when you have all of these mixed together and buddled up and sold off in parts, its so irritating! Im NO investor but this all just seems like a stupid thing to do in the first place. Now I know the government shouldn't not regulate anything because they will screw it up, however, my text book poses a question, "When should a financial institution be considered too big to fail?"
If AIG would have brought entire financial institutions down with them what would you have suggested as the alternative to the bailout?
I know the smart thing to do would have been for AIG to keep cash reserves but since they didn't what now?

I was at a retail store on a Wednesday around 1pm, when I overheard a man that was shopping for shoes with his daughters, talking to a couple from the UK. He was complaining about how hard he has to work here to earn a decent living. He also said that he "doesn't give a damn about the rich, they should help him cause they are already rich, that's what taxes are for". This man spent about 1 to 2 hours midweek on a WORK DAY, sitting down on a bench talking to this couple. I really don't see our government heading in any other direction that it's already going to, with a big voting majority thinking this way. Can a group of Americans go somewhere else and start over? Is secession a naughty word to talk about because it brings back a haunted past?
ReplyDeleteLet us not forget about all of our failing government programs that are designed to "help" us. The newest Consumer Financial Protection Agency that is in the works by the Obama Adiministration. The question remains at what cost. The risks that people take in the financial markets are just that, RISKS. I would rather risk all my money in the stock market then risk letting the government "protect" it and then tax me for doing so! I will surely be at a loss if that happens!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Financial Services Oversight Council Im sure that all the new and costly regulations they plan employing will drive many of our investment agencies to countries with less costly regulation. If we had no intensions of bailing them out if/when they failed then we would not need to regulate them would we?

NO,Secession is not a naughty word. It is the right word. You are completely correct for thinking that way. Only we as a society should stop looking at the past and start looking at the present and future. It is time for the brave to start over again and learn from the past mistakes, take what worked and begin again.

I will move if it means that concepts like Freedom, Liberty, and personal choice are involved.

ReplyDeleteThe United States has made it a habit of the mind to use action reaction as a way to confuse and use American people's tax money and their lives. Example the sinking of the USS maine to start the Spanish American war, The gulf of tonkin were unknown ships engadged a US war ship to create an incident to help bring support for the Veitnam war, Leaving the Borders wide open for drug trafficers so they can win support for a war on drugs, weapons of mass destruction scares to start an illegal war on a foreign countries government and to protect a new pipeline being created for oil, and the training of Ben Laden years ago so now they can keep our troops there for further possible conflict. All of these incidents help to shape a better understanding of what out Government says and then does. It always does the opposite of what it tells us the people and then disregards our concerns when we try to step in. So I say be a tree hugger and I agree with your comment about taxes.
