I don't think the team has done anything to get banned for, so I said they shouldn't be penalized.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02919335626989423227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439938886895118276.post-91547053222149945922014-05-20T17:09:57.452-07:002014-05-20T17:09:57.452-07:00Would the team really be penalized? They are willing and able to fulfill their requirement to play so shouldn't a court side with them to collect their pay? If the business was denied the opportunity to operate and generate income, then Sterling would sell to cut losses. He has already been banned for life by the NBA, but he is still operating his franchise. So what is the effect of the ban? Why should Sterling sell as long as he is making money? If anything, the publicity has increased ticket sales. Clipper's tickets are selling at record prices right now.
I don't follow sports and don't understand the whole concept of professional sports, but it seems to me that Sterling is a business man who is still making money while everyone fires blanks at him.ocopekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07454468365809524071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439938886895118276.post-3898205362384987982014-05-18T13:31:57.160-07:002014-05-18T13:31:57.160-07:00Well, it would not be fair to penalize his "t...Well, it would not be fair to penalize his "team" from the NBA because of his actions. I believe the NBA Constitution Bylaws allow removal under certain specific circumstances that don't apply here, but this particular clause under Article 13 of the bylaws might: " d) Fail or refuse to fulfill its contractual obligations to the Association, its Members, Players, or any other third party in such a way as to affect the Association or its Members adversely." In this case, there's been a loss of sponsorship, possible loss of revenue whilst he's an owner, etc. But the bigger question would be, if he is going to be hated to the extent he will be, why would he NOT want to sell. Have a great vacation Prof. Chambless.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02919335626989423227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439938886895118276.post-59937529701845247562014-05-11T05:44:46.725-07:002014-05-11T05:44:46.725-07:00Sterling is not a closet racist. That was all ignored because he is a member of the elite class. Public opinion has just finally caught up with him.
One penalty that could be imposed is to ban his team from the NBA but that won't happen because of the money.ocopekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07454468365809524071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439938886895118276.post-29701621272753726522014-05-04T13:49:32.917-07:002014-05-04T13:49:32.917-07:00Thanks for this opinion.
