The Irony of Idiocy

As this is being written, anti-capitalism protests are taking place in New York City. The September 30, 2011 Orlando Sentinel reported that "Zuccotti Park is festooned with placards and anti-Wall Street slogans. People sleep wrapped in blankets or sleeping bags, some with donated mattresses. There is a makeshift kitchen and library, and celebrities like Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon have stopped by to show support."

I was just wondering where the blankets, sleeping bags, mattresses, food for the makeshift kitchens, kitchen supplies, books for the library, pens for the placards and the placards came from? Could it possibly be that all of the supplies the protestors are using - including the clothes they are wearing - came from some capitalist seeking the very profit they despise? Is it possible that Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon rely on movie-making equipment that was created by those who would desire monetary gain?

Hmmmm....

  1. Questions for you Professor Chambless:

Do you think public universities are tools of government used to indoctrinate American youth? The reason I ask is because I was a student at UCF and all of my political science professors were either far left or far right. Perhaps that is because their jobs would not exist without the redistribution of wealth. What do you think?

  2. Hi Chambless,

I'm glad to see you speaking out on these idiots. I have been fighting this crap on facebook among the Ron Paul supporters and it has been exhausting. It would seem there are three camps within the supporters of Ron Paul. The first group is the dumbest one of all. These people just enjoy a good rebellion and have joined the OWS protests as one of them. They argue that there are lots of different types of people out there and lots of different messages. Then there are those that want to be Ron Paul / liberty missionaries. They say, "those people are ripe for the plucking. They realize something is wrong, they just don't know how to fix it. We can show them." Then there is my crowd...we're the "stay the hell away from that socialist movement" people.

I can't for the life of me understand why it is that people who claim to be capitalist don't realize what this protest is about. Could the signs that read "A Job is A Right" be the first clue? "End Capitalism," could that clue them in?

I don't know if you've seen these pages...but I thought you might enjoy them.
